Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49879
Italian language pack does not correctly install italian menu items
Last modified: 2005-06-07 16:16:31 UTC
installed OOO 1.9.104 && installed italian language pack 1.9.104.1 (104.1 ?? why on the ftp site ther is the 104.1???) After installing the langpack, spellcecking works in italian, but the menu items are are still ALL in english. Under 1.9.100 + langpack everithing was ok. Giuliano
Framework issue.
Tried uninstalling everithing (OOO 1.9.104 & langpack 104.1 italian). Then reinstalled both. But the problems is still there: menu items and dialogs are in english only. Spellcecking instead works well. If I go into Options--->Language Settings, in the right pane I have no italian language into the drop down list of "user interfage language". Just default and USA. Giuliano
hi giuliano1969, maybe there is an inconsistency between m104 and m104s1? i would wait for next milestone release and recheck if the problem persists. alternatively you can get m105 community build from ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/SRC680_m105/Build-1/ please report back when you have news, thank you, Max
Thanks 'giuliano' for the email with some more comments. As you have been notified the prefered way to comment on issues is IssueTracker to ensure that no additional information is lost. Let me cite your message here: What is strange is that in the http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/office/openoffice/developer/680_m104/ as well as ftp://ftp.join.uni-muenster.de/pub/software/OpenOffice/developer/ 680_m104/ is the 104 build, not the 104.1 one. So, in the normal snapshot build, it is not possible to sinch the langpack and the base install !! Does it exist a 104 italian langpack ? which is the latest langpack ? The most recent Italian language pack is 680_m104 and available from http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/680m104/ It should work with the English base installation linked from http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html Please do not mix different versions of the base installation set and the language pack.
Hi !! You said that ========== The most recent Italian language pack is 680_m104 and available from http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/680m104/ ========== BUT the file http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/680m104/OOo_1.9.104_Win32Intel_langpack_it.zip is BAD. Inside it does not refer to 104 but 104.1, no matter wath the filename says !! It contains openofficeorg1911041.msi. so no 104, but 104.1 I think this is causing the error !! Giuliano
I've tried with the downloaded file from http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/680m104/OOo_1.9.104_Win32Intel_langpack_it.zip. No problem, I don't have english menus and I also can choose the italian GUI language (see attachment). The installtion of the language pack is detecting the installed 1.9 104.

Strange !!! I try to reinstall the italian langpack (install.jpg) The only gui language is English (USA) (104.ita.1.jpg) The dictionary language offer also the italian languege (104.ita.2.jpg) I removed and reinstalled all from scratch ..... What may lead to so differente results ?? Any other experimenthing the defect ?? with the 100 realese I found no problems at all !! But with 104 .... Giuliano
Created attachment 26945 [details] 00104.1.ita installing
Created attachment 26946 [details] only english(USA) avaiable in the dropdown list for the gui
Created attachment 26947 [details] italian dictionary avaiable, even thought the italian gui is not avaiable/installed
Maybe I found the problem ?? After having removed any OOO installation, and deleted any OOO directory, I reinstalled OpenOffice 1.9.104. Then I reinstalled the langpack and I noticed that it was going to install in the OpenOffice.org 1.9.100 directory (that didn't exist!!). I paused, and I used the browse funtion to install the langpack in the OpenOffice.org 1.9.104 directory; now anything now works !! It seems that there may be an error in the path of the installation language pack ! Giuliano
That sounds like there is a an old entry for OOo 100 in the registry. Please clean up your registry. This Microsoft tool might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/it The language pack works as designed: While calling the setup a version is detected and selected as destination. This can't be fixed as it is caused by some trash in the registry. OOo 1.9 m104 dosn't leave such a key in the registry.
