Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49485
arabic script in italic/bold is shown regular but printed italic/bold.
Last modified: 2005-05-21 18:59:02 UTC
when i type a text in arabic or persian (arabic script), using a font from fedora core fonts, no formatting is shown. all the text is shown in regular form. I also used a windows font (Tahoma) that i was sure it has italic/bold glyphs, but still no bold/italic formatting was displayed. everything was shown in regular form. the strange thing is when i print the document, the formatting is printed correctly. the writer *understands* the formatting and prints it correctly, but it doesn't display it.
MRU->US: please have a look at it.
no bug but a feature that is only available for printing and export to pdf. The fonts don't come with an italic/bold version so OOo has to compute italics and bold from the regular font. This is currently not supported in the regular display but the feature is available for prining. -> duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 18285 ***

to colph: as i explained, i tried some other fonts that i was sure have italic/blod versions, but the problem was still there.
You can be sure about it- but I tell you: Tahoma doesn't support bold or italic arabic. Tahoma only contains *very* few bold arabic characters. Marking duplicate again. (Next time please attach a sample doucment as well) *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 18285 ***
