Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 4865
OOo 1.0 crashes consistently during install on RH7.3
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
Operating System: Linux Platform: PC Kernel: 2.4.18-4 GLIBC: 2.2.5 Distribution: RedHat 7.3 Java: JRE-1.4.0 (Sun Microsystems) The installation of OpenOffice crashes consistently on this platform. Only started after upgrade to RH7.3. I believe that it is GLIBC 2.2.5 related. Here is the last 15 lines of the trace: ----- Cut Here ----- stat64("/usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts/.", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64("/usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts/..", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64("/usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts/bkai00mp.ttf", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0444, st_size=10417860, ...}) = 0 stat64("/usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts/bsmi00lp.ttf", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0444, st_size=3420160, ...}) = 0 open("/usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts/bsmi00lp.ttf", O_RDONLY) = 14 fstat64(14, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0444, st_size=3420160, ...}) = 0 mmap2(NULL, 3420160, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, 14, 0) = 0x43316000 close(14) = 0 brk(0x80b3000) = 0x80b3000 --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) --- rt_sigaction(SIGABRT, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_UNBLOCK, [ABRT], NULL, 8) = 0 kill(13418, SIGABRT) = 0 --- SIGABRT (Aborted) --- +++ killed by SIGABRT +++ ----- Cut Here ----- Hope this helps. =[gh]=
Your trace shows a lot of font stuff. Have you checked http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/fontguide.html? I hope that this FAQ could help.
Bingo! /usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts had corrupted fonts or something that OpenOffice did not like (at all). Moved directory, created empty directory - presto! Here's the old directory listing: [root@ctlabs.colltech.com: /usr/local/share/fonts/ttfonts ] # ls -al total 23176 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 May 15 14:51 . drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 May 15 14:54 .. -r--r--r-- 1 root root 10417860 Feb 21 10:00 bkai00mp.ttf -r--r--r-- 1 root root 3420160 May 9 14:07 bsmi00lp.ttf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 740 May 9 14:25 fonts.dir -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 740 May 9 13:49 fonts.scale -r--r--r-- 1 root root 5192076 Feb 21 10:00 gbsn00lp.ttf -r--r--r-- 1 root root 4633128 Feb 21 10:00 gkai00mp.ttf Contents of fonts.dir was: 8 bkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 bkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 bsmi00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL Mingti2L Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 bsmi00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL Mingti2L Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 gbsn00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL SungtiL GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 gbsn00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL SungtiL GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 gkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 gkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 Contents of fonts.scale was: 8 bkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 bkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 bsmi00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL Mingti2L Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 bsmi00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL Mingti2L Big5-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 gbsn00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL SungtiL GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 gbsn00lp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL SungtiL GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 gkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-ascii-0 gkai00mp.ttf -Arphic Technology Co.-AR PL KaitiM GB-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-c-0-iso10646-1 Hmmmm ..... not sure where these fonts even came from.
