Description Daniel Darabos 2002-05-13 22:27:58 UTC
This is by far the most frequent complaint our user support service has to
hear. Some parameter of the tables changes during the transition from Word to
Writer, distorting all formatting around the tables. It seems to happen even
more so in document headers and footers -- or it is only so that they distort
the document more.
The attached file is a scary illustration to this, plus the problem that the
gray area around the white "paper" of the document does not get properly
redrawn in Writer when scrolling a document with form parts extending into
this are.

OOo hangs when trying to load the attached Word template ( that's
what is inside the zip file ).

When I loaded it in Word, it's a table with form controls inside the
cell.

This might be related to issue 4805.

Document loads in RH 8.0, OOo 643C

The problem with the "grey fields" in the table wil be solved in
OpenOffice 644. There we will use input fields to depict such fields
from Word documents.

Still existing problem in Writer is, that it is not possible paragraph
anchored grapphics and frames above/below the page margin. This makes
the view look distorted.
MRU->FT: I think this enhancement could be worth talking about.

Like many things with our table-in-writer import/export we need to put
this on our want-to-have list for future table re-implementation in
Writer.
Changed this issue to Feature, though.

AMA: We need a compability flag about the frame positioning, if it's
checked a frame/graphic is at the same page as its anchor even there
is not enough space to assert the wished positioning and the page
margin is allowed to be entered. If the flag is not set, such a frame
will go to the next page.

Frame positioning ..
