Description ooo 2002-05-13 08:24:16 UTC
When my friend try to open a MS Word document in OpenOffice.org it crashed
with this error message:

  "An unrecoverable error has occured.
All modified files have been saved
and can probably be recovered at
   program restart."

His system:

  Red Hat Linux 7.0
  Linux kernel 2.2.16
  Glibc 2.1.92

I have no problem opening the same file on my system:

  Linux Mandrake 8.1
  Linux kernel 2.4.8
  Glibc 2.2.4

Hm, also no problem on my RedHat 6.2. I'll try out later with a RH 7.x
or a SUSE...

I have the same issue. I'm using SuSE Linux 8.0
Professional, kernel 2.4.18, glibc 2.2.5-38

Tried it on a Redhat 7.2 and it worked fine.

Claus, did you use the OpenOffice version delivered with your Linux
distribution? I think the version downloadable from openoffice.org
works better.
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2003-02-12 10:57:30 UTC

OK, never mind. I upped to 1.0.2
and no longer see the problem.
heh.

Problem seems to be fixed with newer version of OO (at least 1.0.3 and
1.1 Beta).
