Description frank888 2005-04-11 12:20:24 UTC
The 2.0beta is really a good competition to MS-Office.

However, one thing I miss: in MS-Office Powerpoint etc. I could just select a
color from the RGB spectrum and use it. In OpenOffice first I have to define an
entry in the color table. And worse, next time I start the table is still
flooded with the previous color definitions. Sometimes it's nice to have a color
definition, but most of the times that disturbes me. Please leave the
possibility to just select an "anonymous" color from the RGB color picker.

In some special cases this is already possible (3D effects color picker, leave
color name empty), but for lines and arrows there's no free color choice.

Btw, is this bug also about free color selection (without adding to color table)
for table/cell/font background ?

If possible, just create one color picker for all applications.
I don't mind about Calc, but for block diagrams in Draw, a free color choice is
important. It should not be too difficult, because when I import SVG, the colors
are free RGB anyway. It's just that I can't create them now without adding a
permanent entry into the color table.

Even, OO has it already in the sources. The "3D Effects" option (where you
select light, colors etc) has a wonderful RGB color picker. Just apply this one
to the other Office color pickers as an optional choice, then it's done for me.

This issues duplicates a general improvement to color picker:
Issue 20105 - Adding a custom color selector (easier addition of custom colours)

However, unique to this issue is the idea of adding colors, and having OOo
'forget' them, to avoid cluttering up the color selection.

To manage the many suggestions for enhancing the color palette, I have created a
meta-issue here:
Issue 105642 - Re-design and UI improvements for color palettes (meta-issue)

The purpose of the new issue is for management only, it does not duplicate
specific design requests (that we wish to capture).

Many thanks,
Andrew
