This is an essential sign in mathematics.

Unicode arrow 21A6. Very used in French spoken maths (so probably in other latin
and Russian languaged maths), it should be included in Catalog.
If you have a Unicode font including this arrow, you can include this character
in the catalog yourself, though it's not very intuitive :
+ Open a formula.
+ Tools: catalog: edit.
+ In "Symbol" field, type "becomes" (for instance).
+ In "Symbol set", choose "Special".
+ In font choose your Unicode font (for instance "Lucida sans").
+ In "Subset", choose "Arrows".
+ In the big characters table, select ↦ by clicking on it: it's displayed in big
in the bottom right square.
+ Click "Add", then "OK".
+ In the "Symbols" dialog, you now have ↦, you can double-click on it to insert
it. Alternatively, you can type "%becomes" in the formula editor.

dejavu includes maby arrow symbols and is bundled with OO.o

If one arrow symbol is missing in dejavu you can submit a patch to the dejavu
project to support it in the next version (dejavu.sf.net)
