Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 46571
More Math Characters Desired
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:32:37 UTC
I would particularly like the relational symbol U+227B (and others have writen of their desire for it); but, in any event, it would be good to have access to the full set of Unicode math characters.
TL: request for enhancement
It cshould be possible to effect this enhancement by introducing or extending an escape feature. For example, U+227B might be entered as "%U+227B%".
Reassigned back to requirements. This is the correct owner for RFE's.
This is a very user-interface specific, and users would want names the same names as their previous editor of choice. Suggest predefined symbols in the catalog for all characters found in 1) unicode http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/2000-2FFF 2) mathml http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2200.pdf 3) latex http://www.tug.org/tex-archive/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-letter.pdf In fixing this issue the ability to paste unicode characters into the formula editor must not be lost.
Allowing characters to be entered with Unicode escapes would largely resolve the concern express in FAQ question 19: <URL:http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/formula/019.html> I am amazed at the evident reluctance to implement this feature.
