Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45721
Short Name of Bibliographic Entry is not editable in Insert Edit mode
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:35:18 UTC
It seems that OOo uses the "Short Name" of a bibliography entry as it's "key", meaning that once defined the Short Name cannot be changed. This is problematic, at least for me, because as I build references while writing a paper, what if a Short Name that I thought was unique turns out to not be unique? I really need to change the Short Name, but I can't, unless I create a new entry. Just a bit tedious...
Hmm I guess I don't have edit privileges but this is actually for OOo 1.9.84.
Hey, look at that, if I right-click on an inserted bibliographic reference, it allows me to edit it, including the short name. Maybe the same GUI window should be used for inserting and editing, since they're almost the same now, except in part for the ability to change this Short Name. Oh, and it looks like changing the Short Name actually duplicates an entry in the list of document bibliography entries, and I can't seem to find a way to delete the old reference. Doh..just a lot of little minor things to complicate life just a bit. Maybe I just need to look around a little more for the correct options?
->joeclarkia 1) Modify the short name of a biblio entry while inserting. I agree. both Insert and Edit Uis should behave the same 2) After renaming the short name of an entry in the Edit Entry dialog, both new and old name are available. There should be a way to delete up to 1 entry. -> please file a separated issue for this. File it as ENHANCEMENT for it's an UI change.
