Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45387
Wrong values in Conversion of measurement units
Last modified: 2005-11-08 10:27:34 UTC
It seems that 1 cm = 567 twips has been used as the base for the conversion between metric and inch based units - even between inch based units alone like 1 Pica = 240.029811 twips which should be 1 Pica = 240 twips. If you want I can update documentation/helpcontent2/source/text/shared/00/00000003.xhp which is the source file with conversions based on: 1 inch = 25.4 mm 1 inch = 6 Pica = 72 point = 1440 twips I have send a JCA so I can contribute to the project with code.
file text\shared\00\00000003.xhp needs major rework. Only give the conversions as defined, for the units that are valid to enter in the program. Do not calculate anything. ufi->agerskov: thank you for your help. Finding such issues is a much appreciated and valid contribution to the software quality. Documentation depends on a lot of external influences, for example localization, merging of child work spaces (CWS), all kinds of date deadlines, and much more. So sometimes even small fixes need a long time until they become visible in the compiled product. And often the administrative overhead needs much more effort than the fix itself.
