Description jcdamgaard 2005-03-14 13:46:22 UTC
The problem occurs when i insert an updated Date field with the following
format:
"Friday, December 31, 1999"
When i save as .doc and opens it in Word 2003, it shows an error code instead.

I insert the Date this way:
Insert > Fields > Other - Document-tab, Date - Date - Friday, December 31, 1999

Word reports an "Unknown caracter in string"
When i reveal the field-codes it looks like this:
{ DATE \@"NNNN, MMMM\ D', 'YYYY" }
I suspect the "Unknown character" to be "N" (Name of day)

MRU->FLR: the mentioned date format exports with wrong parameters to WW8 format.
Comment 2 andreas.martens 2005-03-21 17:19:22 UTC
Has to be fixed for OOo2.0.1.
Comment 3 andreas.martens 2005-05-25 14:55:06 UTC
Considering the effort, the priority, the risk and our resource planning I've to
retarget this issue to OOo Later.

If one open a word document with a SAVEDATE field to edit it with OpenOffice,
several ' characters are added in the field name when OpenOffice "Save as" word
97 .doc document.
Word original field name : {SAVEDATE\@"d/MM/yy"}
OpenOffice converted field name is : {SAVEDATE\@"'d/'MM'/yy'"}

This happens with french language both in OpenOffice and Word. I have not
checked with english.
I hope this will help to solve this annoying problem when one needs to exchange
documents with the "word" people (they are many).
Workarounds such as reinsert the field or edit the field name directly to remove
the ' characters work but it is necessary to have a word licence to edit the
document. This is an extra work easily forgotten and not very practical.

The uploaded file (test5.odt) produces 2 errors if saved as word95 or word97:

1. the date format changes
2. a character which cannot be deleted appears in the beginning of the first line

Tested on ooo 2.4 under win XP and linux (both german settings).

The lines were copied from a file created with MS word 95 into a newly created
.odt, don't know if this matters.

I get the same problem with other fields: FORMTEXT and FORMCHECKBOX.
Unfortunately I don't have the option of saving in any other format than Word
97, so I'm kind of stuck on what to do.
