Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44676
Remember Last Working Directory
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:31:14 UTC
When I am creating multiple new documents (using the menu new) and I save the document, OO starts out in the My Documents directory. It would be nice if OO remember the last working directory and opened that directory in the view for saving (or opening a file). I am on WinXP, OO 2.0 RC (1.9.79). I am using the writer application; however this is probably a generic item to all of the applications. Chris....
Framework issue.
changed OS from "All" to "Windows XP"
TM->MBA: The file-open dialog remembers the last used folder, but the save as-dialog does this only until the last document is closed (so that the startmodule is shown) and a new document is created -> save as - dialog switches back to working directory.
tm confirmed the issue with his description → setting to new.
OOo always should remember that last used directory until it is closed. Next time OOo starts again it should start with the default working directory. If a document is loaded from another directory a "SaveAs" should start from there. Needs a specification.
As far as I can tell this issue affects the linux version (2.0, Debian Etch) of OO as well. Save As dialogs always suggest my home directory, even if I have just saved another document in a different directory. Open File does remember the last used directory. I agree with mba that a Save As should start from the directory where the document was opened. Another version of the problem is after creating a new document by starting OO from the commandline: I would expect "Save As" to suggest the directory from where OO was started.
As already mentioned I think we should specify explicitly which folder OOo uses when documents are saved or loaded. Matthias, could you please either take this over or pass the request to somebody else who will do it? (changing type from "defect" to "enhancement" because it works as designed)
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
I am no longer officially active on OOo. Please take over.
