Losing Antialiasing

The first time I start a freshly installed OpenOffice.org 1.0, I get very nice antialiased fonts. If I exit and immediately start again, the fonts are no longer antialiased. I have tracked this down to the .../share/psprint/pspfontcache file. If I delete this file, my antialiasing is back. This report was based on the default Thorndale font which I assume was substituted with Times or Times New Roman. I just noticed that if I use the Andale Mono font, it is always antialiased regardless of whether the pspfontcache file exists or not.
Hi, I have submitted a bug similar to that (issue: 4911). I did a patch to the soffice script to automatically remove the pspfontcache file in the user installation directory, but the 4846 issue pointed me to the fact that we cannot rely on the $userinst variable: echo "removing $userinst/user/psprint/pspfontcache" mv -f $userinst/user/psprint/pspfontcache $userinst/user/psprint/old_pspfontcache # end # execute soffice binary [...] A better solution is to symlink pspfontcache to /dev/null: as normal user (suppose that my oo installation is in /home/neugens/OpenOffice/): cd /home/neugens/OpenOffice/user/psprint ln -sf /dev/null pspfontcache For a net installation, you can do that for each user. Every time the OO try to write to the pspfontcache file, it will be directed to /dev/null. In this way I was able to solve the problem. I only hope there will be no side effects, someone at OpenOffce.org may explain the real use of the pspfontcache file. Hope that works! neugens
The same here. AA works for the first time for all TT fonts. In the next session only some fonts are AAed. E.g. Andale mono. Arial is not AAed in the second session. Removing pspfontcache helped (for the first following session). I even upgraded freetype used for build to 2.1.0 but it is still the same :-(
