Description etihwddot 2005-03-08 18:22:44 UTC
I've encountered this error in OOo versions 1.1.0 and now 1.9.79. I use Windows
XP with Service Pack 2 on our workstations and we have a Windows 2003 domain
controller. By using Group Policies user's "Application Data" folder is
redirected to a UNC path. When the workstation install is run the screen ask's
for the install directory if I leave the default directory of
"\\<server>\profiles\<username>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org1.1.0" then I
receive the following error in both of the versions listed above:

Error loading BASIC of document
file://<server>/profiles/<username>/Application
Data/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/script.xlc
General Error.
General input/output error.

I click OK and then get:

Error loading BASIC of document
file://<server>/profiles/<username>/Application
Data/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/script.xli
General Error.
General input/output error.

I click OK and then get:

Error loading BASIC of document
file://<server>/profiles/<username>/Application
Data/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/dialog.xlc
General Error.
General input/output error.

I click OK and then get:

Error loading BASIC of document
file://<server>/profiles/<username>/Application
Data/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/dialogs.xli
General Error.
General input/output error.

I click OK and it saves the document. However, everytime you save a new
document this error will occur. The only way I was able to "fix" the error was
to reinstall the workstation setup and choose an install path that is not an UNC
path. For example: "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org1.1.0"

jsk->tbe: I haven't seen it for quite a while but apparently we still struggle
with it...
