Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 4353
some slide transitions freeze the slide show
Last modified: 2004-02-17 09:03:40 UTC
This is a defect for 1.0 (not 642) Steps to reproduce: (1) create a simple presentation. 1 slide is enough (2) select menu "Slide Show>Slide Transition" and assign the presentation "Fly In From Left" to a slide. (3) run the slide show or the preview Effect: OpenOffice 1.0 freezes when the show reaches the transition.
Reassigned to Christian.
I tested all slide transitions and everything works fine. I don't get a freez.
I close this Issue.
I have identified the problem. Some transitions have sounds and OO blocks when 'esd' (the gnome sound deamon) is running. This is a known problem of esd. Any application accessing /dev/dsp will block until esd is killed.
Please have a look to the comment from Stephane Chauveau.
One more detail. The problem is not limited to esd. Any program that opens /dev/dsp in writing mode will do block OO. For example, a simple way to reproduce it is to run the following command in a shell: cat > /dev/dsp
we should handle that more graceful
pl->mh: please update vcl/unx/source/app/ ossound.cxx to rev 1.2 devaudiosound.cxx to rev 1.3 (both toplevel)
now in OOO_STABLE_1 branch.
verified.
close issue.
