Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 41851
Cannot import gallery entries from older versions of OO.o
Last modified: 2019-10-05 17:51:04 UTC
Gallery themes created with older versions of OO.o (1.0.1, 1.1.0) aren't inherited on upgrade (1.1.0, 1.1.3). Placing the old gallery directories in the gallery path doesn't allow them to be accessed. Copying the files over doesn't allow them to be accessed. None of the file access dialogs even show the old files. Pointing to the old directories when using "find files" descends rather than opening the contents. No references to importing gallery themes in the help system. Nothing found by search using only "gallery" as the search term. In other words, it seems that the only way to get a gallery from one version of OO.o to another is to make a drawing with all of the contents using the old version, then open it with the new version and create a new gallery. If the old version is no longer available the graphics have to be recreated manually.
Since nothing is broken here I set this to enhancement.
But I agree with you that this is a feature that would be very helpful. Thanks for the help.
Note that this is essentially a special case of "cannot import galleries." Another user pointed out that galleries that can be exchanged are much more useful than ones that have to be hand-created on each system.
