Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 40969
Inclusion of more Flowchart, UML Diagram Shapes in OOo Draw
Last modified: 2007-07-25 20:17:58 UTC
OOo Draw presently contains only 2 shapes - Rectangle and Ellipse. Due to this limitation a user can’t draw frequently used diagrams like flowcharts etc. Please see the whether shapes for the following diagrams can be included in OOo Draw or not - Flowcharts Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) Entity Relationship Diagrams (ER Diagrams) Unified Modeling Language Diagrams (UML Diagrams) Network Modeling Diagrams etc. Proprietary tools like MS Visio or open source tools like Dia readily offer this kind of functionality. Thanks.
Please have alook at the custom shapes, a little bit further to the right of the toolbar. There is a complete theme called "Flowchart" between Arrows and Callouts.

UML shapes are not the same as flowchart shapes. Some are the same, but UML has more. Also, grouping all the UML shapes into a single drop-down could be convenient. Some missing UML shapes are, for example: - Folded Corner shape, but with folded corner on the upper right corner instead of the lower right corner. - Three-sections rectangle, where separate texts can be entered in each section (needed for UML class diagrams). - Filled and non-filled round and diamond arrow ends. - Split arrows (arrows with one end connected to n shapes, and the other end to 1 shape). I'd really love OpenOffice Draw to have these. No existing open source tool for UML diagraming satisfies me, but OpenOffice Draw would, if only it had the required shapes. Please, re-open this issue.
Ok, changed title.
