Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 40383
package split suboptimal (-database, filters, ...)
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:24 UTC
Hi, I wonder whether a -database is possible/makes sane when we already split all the other components out to extra packages (-writer, -calc, ...). Woould get some consistency but probably also some complexity because openoffice would have to depend/requiere/... one of those to be actually useful.. Regards, Rene
Please have a look.
Hi, besides the fact that a -database would be useful the current package splitting is a bit suboptimal. For example, libwpft is in -core. It is a WordPerfect writer filter so it probably should be in -writer. There probably is more stuff like that too. Also useful would be a -binfilter, we have -xsltfileter and -graphicfilter too. That would reduce the size of -core immense and would help people trying to provide two different installsets size-wise (i.e. with --with-system-foo and with internal one). In the wpft case I need to duplicate -core, where -duplicating -writer would be easier, faster and would need lesser space,,
