Description lwoggardner 2005-01-05 11:47:50 UTC
I have a spreadsheet document with a number of sheets and quite a few defined names.

If I use Insert-Names-Create" to add a particular name definition the name is
defined and it can be used in formulas.

However Insert-Names-Define does not show the name in the list, neither does
Insert-Names-Insert-Insert-All result on the new name appearing in the resultant
list.

Saving the document and re-opening shows that the name is lost.

I think this might be what 20712 referred to about losing name definitions on save.

I'll attach the file and explain how to repeat as soon as I work out how to do
that...

So in the attached file NameBug.sxc

On the "Setup" sheet, select cell range A16:B16
Choose Insert-Names-Create, and select Left-Column

Change cell D16 back to its correct formula "=AnnualLeaveLoss"
You will see that that name is now working.
Choose Insert-Names-Define, not that AnnualLeaveLoss is not in the list.
Save the spreadsheet,
Open the spreadsheet, cell D16 now shows #REF! because the name definition has
been lost.
