Description mkol 2004-12-27 19:09:10 UTC
OpenOffice.org Word Processor does not provide an easier method for applying
multiple page numbering schemes in a single documents.

Why multiple page numbering schemes are required in a single document?
Multiple page numbering schemes may be required in a single document, when a
user is composing a large document e.g. A Text Book.

A Text Book usually contains multiple sections with entirely different page
numbers e.g.-
Preface with page numbers i, ii, iii, iv
Main Text book with page numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Can we have a built in feature in OpenOffice.org to accomplish the above task?
Comment 1 Regina Henschel 2004-12-27 21:28:03 UTC
Create a page style with i, ii, iii (tab 'page' part 'format') and another page
style with 1, 2, 3. Then use a manual page break between the parts via Insert ->
Manual Break. Select the style there and change the page number to 1.

If this doesn't solves your problem, please have a look at issue 33754, 32894 or
12138. Is your problem mentioned there? If not, please describe exactly, what
behavior you are missing.

Please see Regina's comments and the mentioned issues there. Here you can find
the correct way to generate your desired page number layout.
