Description Unknown 2002-04-02 03:33:12 UTC
Open a new, blank spreadsheet. Save As...

An unrecoverable error has occurred.

All modified files have been saved and can probably be recovered at program restart.

In fact, this is untrue. The file wasn't saved.

It may be important that the program was installed by root in
/usr/local/lib/OpenOffice.

This also happens on my 641D on a Windows 2000 machine. I can no
longer save spreadsheets. I'm going back to 641C in the meantime.

Hi Elf,
could you please give me an detailed overview of your environment.
That means hardware, Linux distribution, Kernel etc.

Hi Luigi,
please do the same for your W2K.

There must be something special about your systems because other
people sending bugs that go beyond saving an empty document.

Best regards, Peter

Hardware: 850MHz PIII with 512M RAM
OS: WIndows 2000 SP2
OpenOffice: 641D (migrated from 641C)

but I don't have a problem with this anymore. I ran "SETUP.EXE" and
told it to "REPAIR", and the problem went away. I can now load and
save files with no problems.

So I'm sticking with 641D, but I'm concerned that the crashed
happened. It may be the "upgrade" that caused the problem in the first
place. I uninstalled 641C before installing 641D. After I installed
641D, I copied over the "share" and "user" directories in an attempt
to preserve my setup. Perhaps that caused a problem.

I'm sorry I don't have time to reinstall 641D clean and try again
right now.

Hi Luigi,
there's no way in the moment to migrate one version of OOo to the
other. Every installation has to be started clean.

Hi Elf,
maybe you're facing the same problem.

Best regards, Peter

It isn't clear that this is a problem with installing over the top of
an existing setup. Did you try installing as root and then running
as another user? What is OOo?

I'm running Debian GNU/Linux on a dual pIII 700MHz. For the most
part, I'm using packages from Woody.

Tried the Repair function from setup. Spreadsheet still crashes when
saving.

Hi Elf
(OOo = OpenOffice.org)
Yes, I install OOo most of the time as root/user because it helps to
find more issues. I will try it this week myself with Woody.
Best regards, Peter
