-In Tools dropdown select "Mail merge" option
-select "USE CURRENT DOCUMENT" option and click next
-select document type as "letter" and click next
-In adress block window "select Adresslist" button
-To create a new adress clicked "Create" button
-A dialog box opens to fill adress list and after filling all fields of adress
and clicked ok

-I went to "My Documents" folder and selected an html file(About Issues.html)
and clicked ok

reassigned to HI.
Comment 4 h.ilter 2004-12-01 16:00:51 UTC
HI->OS: User error! But you should limit some possibilities like this.
Comment 5 Oliver Specht 2004-12-01 16:37:01 UTC
os->hi: I couldn't reproduce the crash - but I have Java installed.
Otherwise it works even with an extension 'html'.
It doesn't work when the file name contains a space but it doesn't crash.

I can't see a (simple, affordable) way to prevent the selection of strange
filenames.

Maybe you can create a stack.
Comment 6 h.ilter 2004-12-02 11:46:05 UTC
HI->OS: Me neither. I've removed my Java but no crash appeared
Comment 7 kodali_aruna 2004-12-02 13:08:16 UTC
-It may work properly in your end but it didn't worked in my environment at
that time
-After removing that file by going to "Tools" and "Options" and then selected
particular file and deleted ,
Then only it allowed me to work in my system
-Sorry for wasting your time
-But you can take it as an enhancement or comment
-Like user shouldnt be allowed to save file other than database folder anduser
must be restricted in saving files.
-Right now it might dosent cause any error, but later it may effect files .

Comment 8 h.ilter 2004-12-09 09:15:21 UTC
Reopened to change it as enhancement.

HI->CJ: See the point below from reporter:
-Like user shouldnt be allowed to save file other than database folder anduser
must be restricted in saving files.
Comment 10 christian.jansen 2004-12-28 10:22:06 UTC
CJ: I can't reproduce this error.
It is not easy to save in a different file format as specified (*.csv), because
users have to enter *.* first, for making other file types but csv visible. An
other way is, if users enter a filename + some kind of extsion by hand, OOo
should handle this fault-tolerant in a way that the extension gets automatically
extended by csv. For example, if an user tries to save as "XYZ.html" OO.o shall
turn this automatically to "XYZ.html.csv"

Retargeted to Office later.
