Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 37439
Inconsistent names for i18n-directories
Last modified: 2013-02-07 21:57:35 UTC
We currently use two different namings for directories containing localized data, e.g.: - en-US (see {inst}/share/registry/res/en-US) - english (see [inst]/share/ Please find a common ground here that we only have one naming style.
Third variant is: {inst}/help/en I think i already submitted a bug on this issue quite a while ago.
I don't really know what I have to do with this. The share/registry/res/* directories need to use ISO locale identifiers - the same as used internally. This will not be changed. More generally any such remapping is undesirable - it not only is inconsistent, but also is another step for localization. Generally we should use ISO locale uniformly. Some of this issue (the "english" directories) is already being addressed in issue 35265. The remaining part is the help directory, which also uses an ISO code, but one that for some languages differs from the internal one. @ivo: AFAIK you are working on this.
all execpt the help installation will be changed to en-US in #i35265#. Regarding the help directory ABI don't see any reason to change the directory name nor change the fallbackmechanism.
duplicated issue closed , see -> #i35265#
.
reopen to keep this help issue in mind
the help for "en-US" is installed into "help/en".
