Description jacqueline.mcnally 2004-11-18 03:29:41 UTC
Check list attached, but first of all need to qualify:

- Why are we having a RegiCon?
- What are our objectives? What are we trying to achieve?
- Who do we want to receive our message?

- Why are we having a RegiCon?
Because there is a huge audience for OOo in this region that is unwilling/unable
to travel overseas to attend OOoCon. In This way, OOo either comes to them, or
at least meets them halfway.

- What are our objectives? What are we trying to achieve?

Our objectives should be twofold:

1. Reach out to and be accessable to the American IT and business community

2. Preach the benefit of OOo as a migration strategy to businesses attending
DLS to help them figure out whether or not they want to migrate, and if so, how?

- Who do we want to receive our message?

Conference attendees ;). Really, I think most people at these things will be
here representing their company, usually the ones responsible or at least
advisory to their companies IT policy. We should be preaching to those who care
more about easy migration and open format and document half-life, not those who
are looking to save $400 or use highly technical features.

Good comments Ryan. It appears that you are interested in targeting business. Do
you know what the audience profile was for the previous DLSs ? This may be
something worthwhile to know in deciding our format and speakers.
