sj->as: Its safe to say that the attached "bh.ppt" file is no PowerPoint format.
I think you are having more experience detecting the right filter.
Comment 7 andreas.schluens 2005-01-11 14:04:05 UTC
I've found the following behaviour inside type detection:
a) flat detection select the internal type "impress_MS_PowerPoint_97"
corresponding to the extension *.ppt
b) The deep detection servcice of the draw module
("com.sun.star.draw.FormatDetector") returns no result. As SJ already said ...
this file isn't realy a ppt-file.
c) Afterwards the detection ask every office module to detect the unknown
format. The deep detection service "com.sun.star.comp.sfx2.BinaryFormatDetector"
crashes.
On Windows nothing will happen ... because the windows runtime (?) handle this
type of error. There is no exception ... no crash. The file wouldnt be loaded.
But of course - there is a bug inside the detection of the bin filter module.

AS->AW: Seems to be more your area.
Comment 8 Armin Le Grand 2005-01-13 15:21:00 UTC
AW->MBA: As discussed, please check if this happens at all after linking
binfilter detection against the living sfx2.
Comment 9 Mathias_Bauer 2005-01-13 16:45:11 UTC
The document is broken, so of course it is not loaded, but an error message is shown
The crash does not appear in my CWS.

I get no errormessage when I load the file.
On linux I get a crash while loading
On windows nothing happens.
Therefore I think this issue is fixed but failed.

Comment 21 Mathias_Bauer 2005-01-26 08:52:29 UTC
I checked the last installation set and indeed could reproduce the crash. Simply
rebuilding the bindetect680mi.dll fixed the problem!

Please reinstall and check again.

Comment 25 Mathias_Bauer 2005-02-03 15:51:47 UTC
This appeared to be a duplicate of issue 41365: in both cases a load error
ocurred and the storage wasn't checked for being NULL.

Comment 27 Mathias_Bauer 2005-02-07 11:02:14 UTC
The fix for #i41365# meanwhile was moved to the master, so this one is fixed
there also.
Please verify in m78 build.

There is no crash any time longer.
