Description scls19fr 2004-10-19 18:20:09 UTC
Hello,

I write you because I think the user interface for drawing bezier curve is not
very easy to understand (and not very flexible too)

I think you should be inspired by InkScape.

With InkScape, when drawing, tangents vectors are shown.

Moreover with InkScape, the 2 tangents vectors at a point can be on a different
line. (it could be usefull for tangents to be on a different line

In fact, for this problem, right click on tangents should set property to
- the 2 vectors are on the same line (as now)
or
- the 2 vectors are symetrics (point symetry)
or
- the 2 vectors are independant each other

Thanks

Could you explain me why 1 year later this enhancement is still unconfirmed ?

I believe that the Bezier curve tool at the moment is working in reverse. In
fact, the documentation agrees with me! The only place where the Bezier curve is
adequately described states that, after the initial click and drag to start the
curve, it is continued by further clicking and dragging in the direction you
want to go. However, this is not actually the case. You actually need to click
and drag *back* towards where you have come from before continuing in the
direction you want to go. This is anything but intuitive and greatly disrupts
the natural progression of drawing a smooth curve thereby making the feature
very difficult to use. It seems that the program is losing users because of this
unfriendly method. I think that once this feature is implemented correctly,
people will find the tool to be much more friendly and understandable.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
