Description helgekraak 2004-09-22 23:14:05 UTC
When you assign a help text to a text field (and all other types probably too)
and your text exceeds the screen width when you move your mouse over the text
fielf, the text is not beeing divided into two lines. Instead you can't see the
rest of the text.

Hi,

reassign to User Experience for evaluating.

May be there should be also a possibility to insert a linebreak manuall. f.e.
via "\n"

Bye Marc

Helge, would Marc's suggestion solve your problem? I.e., if you enter help text
which contains \n, then this would be translated into an explicit line break.
Such a fix could probably be easily done, without waiting two more years or
longer for OOo 3.0 ....

I like Marc's suggestion with the manual linebreak. I think it's a great idea,
also much better than just an automatic linebreak on what I put my first thought
when I experienced this problem. Thanks a lot for fast response!

Hmm. I stepped a little bit into the code, and played with it. It seems that
such a change is not as easy as I thought. Unfortunately, the tooltips in the
underlaying graphics system layer (VCL) are not prepared for wordbreaks, at
least not in the "simple mode", but only for tooltips which you get pressing
Shift-F1.
So, this definately is nothing I can fix within half an hour :( - which sadly
means it has to reside with the user experience team for feature evaluation ....

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
