Description dalo 2004-08-18 18:20:08 UTC
Every time you insert a graphic (bitmap), using copy/paste - a screenshot from
another application - it also creates a new paragraph holding the pasted graphic.
Wouldn't it be better to accept the paragraph where the cursor is standing on ?

When copy/pasting OOo Drawings no new paragraph is created.

For the need for more info:
The key thing is that with every insert (insert-> graphics -> from file OR copy
paste action) you will also get an EXTRA paragraph instead of using the
paragraph where the cursor resides.
This kinda gets annoying making courseware with a lot of screenshots.

On top of this if you use insert -> object -> e.b. formula the paragraph where
the cursor is located IS used. (no additional paragraph is made then)

So if i may choose ;-) i choose the 'no extra paragraph' option.

ES->dalo: FYI: a formula is by default anchored to character so it is inserted
at the current cursor position.

ES->BH: OOo should insert graphics anchored as character by default. this would
solve:
- the present problem of an extra paragraph creation
- make the creation of a caption on a graphic easier

I think we should at least be able to select the default Anchor for all graphics
insertion, using the menu, by dragging and dropping objects from the gallery...
For example each time I drag & drop number objects from the gallery, they're not
inserted where I drop them, because they're not inserted as Character anchored
graphics but as Paragraph. It makes the process of documenting an application so
painless.

For info I think this issue is related to issue 14008 and issue 19814.

Isn't this issue a duplicate of issue 19814 ? They both deal with setting As
Character as the default anchor mode.

Agreed
"As character" must stay a possibility and anchoring must be a choice for end-user. It must be set through Graphics style
But now, no way to have anchor option with the stylist dialog
