Description Unknown 2002-03-04 03:30:02 UTC
I am able to create an animation by putting together several images, but I
do not seem to be able to insert a movie into a slide. I work with medical
images - angiograms specifically. It would be nice to be able to insert movies
created with other aplications into the slide show.

OLE does not provide an option.I would expect to find it under insert.

Comment 5 Unknown 2003-08-10 20:01:32 UTC
Downloaded RC2 for Windows and Linux - i386.

In Windows, I can insert a placeholder for a movie as an OLE Object,
Insert->Object->OLE Object. The icons for video, and sound for that
matter, cannot he selected. During the actual slide presentation, the
first frame shows up as an image, but that is all. A separate viewer
is spawned during slide editing.

In Linux, I can insert a placeholder for a movie correctly
Insert->Object->Video. However, I get a white box as a placeholder for
the movie, and then text "starting plugin
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/mplayerplug-in.so ..." However, that is all I
get when I try to show the presentation.

Still occurs under linux on RC4. Have not tried under Windows.

I just downloaded the latest development snapshot (1.9.m54) for Linux and
installed it. When I create a new presentation and try to insert a movie, I get
"The format of the selected file is not supported". I've tried quicktimes,
MPEG-1 movies and AVIs generated by mencoder. All of these movies play without
problem on the same linux machine.

Therefore, it seems that this issue is not resolved. Movies still cannot be
inserted.

This issue is almost the same as i4645 and i6880. For an easier handling I set
two of the issues as duplicates. Because of a problem of jmf usage this this
will be testable after intergration of a certain CWS (preseng01).
Comment 24 wolframgarten 2004-12-10 13:43:21 UTC
This works now under linux if you have jmf installed and the right settings
under /tools/options/java. But only a few avi files get played, a lot of other
formats are not supported.
Tested in m65. Closed.
