Whenever I browse through font types, OO locks up until I reboot my machine

Reassigned to Éric.

Not reproducible.
You probably have a defect font.
ES->US: again.
Comment 3 ulf.stroehler 2002-03-04 09:59:12 UTC
The platform you chose (Win 98) is correct?
What happens, if you select these fonts in different applications.
Does your system lock up as well?
In generell OO is not responsible for font rendering on MS Windows.
The only clue I have is that you have one or several corrupt fonts on
your system.
Pls. isolate the corrupt font. To do so, type a dummy text, select it
and try all the available fonts in OO one by one. Do not use the font
drop down list box in the object bar, but the fontlist of the context
menu (right mouse button).

Yes, I am using Windows 98. I cycled through all fonts as you suggested and did not experience any hang
ups. I have not seen font problems with other applications. It seems that as long as I stay away from
the font drop down list box in the title bar I am OK... Any other suggestions?

Thanks much,
Bob

I got the same problem on Linux!

I am using RedHat 7.2, and the problem look as if the preview function
on the fontmenues got a problem. I can drop down the menu but the
program kills itself when trying to go up or down in the menu, as if
there is some previews that not is available.

I am saying the program kill itself, because there is no errormessages
that the system know of.

I am using a laptop with 348 Mb RAM, 160 Mb SWAPdisk and 14 Gb free
space on the partition OpenOffice is located on.

Thank you all for posting your comments.

If this problem still exists in the current release of OOo, please
post a new issue with step by step instructions that consistently
reproduces the issue. Listing hardware configuration in issues such
as this is usually helpful.

Thank you for using and supporting OOo.
