Description robotii 2004-07-29 16:57:09 UTC
The toolbars do not fit with the application look and feel if the user is not
using the luna theme on windows xp.

SBA->SSA: Please take over.
Comment 2 stephan_schaefer 2004-08-03 08:39:37 UTC
ssa->cj: any comments ?
Comment 3 christian.jansen 2004-08-03 09:23:42 UTC
Well, we can introduce a "Classic Look" Option. Which turns everything
OpenOffice.org to a look introduced 1995 ;-). This option shall inlude the toolbars.

Comment 5 stephan_schaefer 2004-08-04 08:50:29 UTC
ssa->cj: please specify exactly what this option should do and what UI elements
will be affected, where it will be placed in the UI or if it will be used
automatically.

I disagree about to use the old theme as default in computers without the Luna feel.
I know that it is not the prettiest thing in the world (I'm under WinXP without
the Luna right now), but I prefer the new look.

It depends a lot in the configuration of the user (the colors he choose, and
fonts, mainly).

Already there is a 'View', in the Format-->Options menu, and there was a 'look
and feel' option there.
I suggest to use something like this.
Comment 7 robotii 2004-08-23 13:02:22 UTC
Yes, it would be nice to be able to choose which toolbar set to use. I think it
should be a UI option, as not all people will want to use the new look and feel.

I should point out that the application is still perfectly usable, it just
clashes horribly with the font and colour settings I already have set up, I'm
not keen on changing them just to use OOo.

Any ideas if this will make it into the 2.0 release. I'm not terribly
disappointed if you mark this WONTFIX.

Should switch to linux, eh ;-)

I have to say that I'm really disapointed with the new look of OOo. It seems to
be entirely copied from another office suite!

There needs to be some way of changing the way the program looks, but all the
options to change the look in previous versions appear to have been lost on th
later developer builds. What happened to the "Look & Feel" and "Flat Buttons"
options under Tools>Options>View?
Comment 9 caiot1 2004-09-02 19:38:50 UTC
Ed2:

These are specifications.
The look and feel will can be changed by native tools, like GTK for Linux.

They were not lost, they was picked up from OOo.
Comment 10 ed2 2004-09-03 18:22:02 UTC
asrail:

Firstly, the native widget framework doesn't (at present) apply to toolbar
buttons, so it does not make the "flat buttons" option redundant. Secondly, the
farmework doen't work on all paltforms, so these options are still needed on
platforms where the native widget framework does not work.

Also, it seems unlikely that the toolbars will be made to use native widgets
any time soon, since a new platform-independent look has just been introduced,
which I don't think they would have done if they were about to throw it all
away in favour of a native look.

this should work now with the current developer snaphsot.

This isue IS NOT a duplicate of issue 32193.

The changes implemented for issue 32193 only make OOo look right under Windows
XP when the "Luna" theme IS being used, and does nothing to help users of
Windows when the "Luna" theme is not being used, which is what this issue refers to.

This issue is still a problem in 680_m71s1 (note that issue 32193 says fixed in
m71 - this is NOT a duplicate of that issue). Added a picture attachment to
prove the point.
Comment 17 robotii 2005-01-27 16:46:31 UTC
Agreed, this is not a duplicate. The problem is still in m71s1.

CJ: Set target to "OOo Later".
