Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 323
Setup aborts on Solaris7
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
It works fine on Solaris8, but on Solaris7 a few moments after typing 'setup' the installation aborts. This does not happen on the corresponding StarOffice version.

Can everybody having this problem verify if they have patch 106950-11?
Sander, as far as I understood Heiner, there's almost no way of getting OpenOffice.org running on Solaris7 if it had been built on Solaris8. Hope he can help you solve this issue, I put him on the CC list. From my point of view we must fix this issue, Solaris8 is still not that widespread.
Sander, this is most probably a link issue. You linked against the Solaris 8 libraries, right? Maybe it would be a good idea to link everything against Solaris 7. Here in Hamburg, we still link everything against Solaris 2.6 to be downward compatible to Solaris 2.6. Solaris 2.6 is probably not OpenOffice relevant, but Solaris 7 IMHO is. Heiner
This still occurs in OpenOffice619
Yes. On the other hand, the Solaris 7 build machine is now patch, has a 6.1 compiler and is doing the build. 619c should be hopefully be runnable on Solaris 7 8-)
Sander, no change visible in 619c, still core dumps.
Sander, it does work in 619d, great! I don't want to change resolution or other fields, I guess you should do that.
619d is built on Solaris7 so it should indeed run there. I'll leave it open - at least for now - as there are a couple of related problems. Apparently, you need to have two patches (108434 and 108435) installed on Solaris 8 for the installation to run. There may also be some problems running on Solaris7 machines that are (patchwise) way out of date...
Sander, for Solaris7 patches 106327-08 and 106300-09 are required. I guess it would be a good idea to mention all these patches in kind of a system requirements section, which doesn't exist at the moment. I do not see any reasons to keep this bug open.
ok, closing issue.
