Description palecekj 2002-02-25 15:33:00 UTC
When I enter a formula like a+-b, it is displayed incorrectly. The signs are displayed in the Wingdings font, although they
should be displayed in some normal font, like Times. It even change the chracter code number, because the Wingdings
characters (according to the insert special chracter dialog in swriter) have codes above 0xF000 and for exmple = has
code number 0x3D. The formula editor remaps the characters so that Wingdings code = Times code + 0xF000.

This bug is active even on Windows ME.

The Formula Editor use the OpenSymbol font (OpenOffice) or the
StarSymbol font (StarOffice).

It looks like the font is not correctly recognized by Windows.
Have a look at the systems char map tool to see if the font is listed
there...
You probably just need to reboot the system once after the
installation to have it work.

that problem occured, when an older open___.ttf font was used with
openOffice641. Maybe you have the older font from 638, which must be
deleted manually and the being reinstalled by the 641 setup.

I have the same problem. The strange thing is that if I install OO
(from scratch) the font is OK (without restart the machine). When I
restart Windowx (XP) it starts putting symbols (windings and so on)

BTW, windows does not list the openosymbol font and I've installed 1.0
(not the old 6xx). How can I fix it without reinstalling OO every time
I need to do math?

+ tips... sorry for making in 3 comments...
I can repair the installation. When I repair (or install from
scratch), char map tool display the font. It dissapear when I reboot.

Jiri,
do you still have the problem after doing a "repair" with the
OpenOffice Setup? After this, the OpenSymbol font should be available
again and the formulas should be displayed correctly again.

mru@openoffice.org
The problem disappeared after I opened (in the Windows Explorer)
the Fonts directory. I think it is caused by not registreing the
font properly during the installation or something. I've never done
a "repair" with OOo setup tool.
