Newbie here...
I noticed that we the Properties page showed a word count. But the number 
refers to the whole document. I'd like to be able to do a word count on a 
specific part of the document (e.g. just the body, without the abstract or 
bibliography). Probably it can be implemented by selecting a portion of text, 
and then do the command from pull down menu.

This seems like a duplicate of issue 1793 to me too

seeing as i cannot mark this a duplicate marking as depending on bug
1793 instead
