Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 3126
bibliography issues
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
I've tried the new build of OpenOffice641C and the use of bibliography database si still unsuccessfully pleasant. It's difficult to explain: - first the length limit of the title depend on where I write it. If it's in the new windowed database manager, I can do it. but if it is in the entry manager (this child window is opened when I click right the mouse on the short name of a reference in a Writer's text) it's impossible to write more than 80 caracters (average) - Second: When I am in the Main Database Manager (accessed by the menu on the top: eg: File Edit Insert ...) I don't understand what I have to do with the fields on the bottom of the window. If I write something it's not recorded on the table over. Why? - Third: I want to use the bibliography to make it automatically at the end of my document. So I use Insert>index>bibliography entry. And I just can't have anything except the title which is what I want (cool). To solve the problem I have to right click on the reference and make "modify entry". I write the full reference and that's OK, I update all the text and my bibliography is OK. What's the matter. - At last: There were several fatal error but it wasn't exactly at the same time so I was not able to trace the error. Overall it's too difficult to use it seriously at this time. For exemple I had for the test to write up to ten times the title of my publication to put it in reference... Stephane. PS: I say it again: I would be very proud to write my PhD thesis with OpenOffice or StarOffice instead of what you know (M$ Softs)
Reassigned to Éric.
First of all: 1 issue = 1 issue report. Please don't report collated issues in 1 report! > First:... -> this is a dup to your issue 595 > Second:... -> this is a known issue which has been fixed for the next build > Third:... -> I don't understand what you exactly want, how you proceed and what you get.... please expose your problem anew. > At last:... -> crashes which you cannot reproduce cannot be handeled. If you can reproduce them, please describe how they happen.
I reassigned it because I'm not able to correct the problem I'm just a user, not a hacker! Steph.
Ok´but as a user you should be at least able to *read* what is written. I sum up once again. We need more info from you in order to be able to reproduce the problem and eventually correct it. so: > Third:... -> I'd like you to explain, express with other word - and why not with a sample file - this third problem = I don't understand what you mean! > At last:... -> crashes which you cannot reproduce cannot be handeled. If you can reproduce them, please describe how they happen. Explanation: if this happens *ALL THE TIME* (=reproducible) when you do something, please describe what you do. Please also have a look at: http://www.openoffice.org/bugs/bug_writing_guidelines.html to learn ho to submit issues in IssueZilla.
Closing due to lack of activity. Stephane, feel free to reopen this issue if you have additional comments to make.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
