Description marcusdaub 2002-02-07 15:00:53 UTC
Ladies and Gentlemen,

if using multiple binoms like for example:

P=left ( binom{a}{b}
right ) *left ( binom{a-a}{b-b} right )

the 3 a and the 2 b are not at the same high.

I would
kindly please you to correct this.

With best regards
Marcus Daub

I cannot reproduce this in the current build #7725.
All characters are perfectly aligned.
It even works perfectly in old StarOffice 5.2...

Did you use a (slightly) different formel than th eone you posted?

TL->MRU: To you to have a look at in latest OpenOffice version.
Comment 2 thomas.lange 2002-02-08 05:49:15 UTC
I took a look at the image you supplied.
This effect does not happen in the both versions I've used to check
this. Strange...

Do you have changed the default settings for the formulas?
Like spacing, font sizes, alignment...
(Though I doubt that the effect could be achieved that way.)

I like you to have a look in the
  "user\config\registry\instance\org\openoffice\Office"
subtree of you installation directory if there is a 'Math.xml'
This is where all user changes would be stored.
If there is such a file please add it as attachement to this bug.

Thanks!

Even with the user/*/Math.xml file I couldn't reproduce this.
Comment 4 hdu@apache.org 2002-02-14 10:42:21 UTC
Can you provide a snapshot of the problem in different sizes,
e.g. at 100% and 400% zoom? Please attach the snaps to this bugs.

Comment 6 hdu@apache.org 2002-02-15 13:00:27 UTC
HDU->MRU: Same problem in all views, so it is not rounding related.
Since also the size of parentheses is different and matches the
vertical alignment of the rows inside, I suspect the algorithm for
calculating this size has a problem. Does this algorithm use the
text width of the row somehow?

TL added to cc.
Comment 8 michael.ruess 2002-04-26 09:43:16 UTC
Added also HDU to cc.

I think, HDU wanted to send it to you.... because I don't understand,
what he talked about ;-) I don't know about the algorithm that does
anything.
Well, another thing: I was only able to reproduce this with the
Opensymbol font, not with the StarSymbol. Could it be, that this issue
is related to issue #3780 (bar much too high) anyway?
Comment 10 thomas.lange 2002-04-29 08:56:38 UTC
TL->IH: HDU and I think it is the same problem as #i3780 since the
problem occurs too under Windows when using the OpenSymbol font.
Can you have a look in this?

Comment 11 nospam 2002-04-29 09:53:27 UTC
Because I did not find any font relating problems I will assign this
one to TL.
Comment 12 thomas.lange 2002-05-06 08:56:37 UTC
TL: to be checked with StarOffice and OpenSymbol font...
Comment 13 thomas.lange 2002-07-31 06:55:00 UTC
Phew... I'm glad this one could be reproduced now.
It should be fixed in the next OpenOffice build.
(BTW: the reason is the same as for #i3780)

We could never reproduce this because it only happens if you do _not_
have installed a StarSymbol font along with OpenSymbol font. Which is
unfortunately usually not the case here...

As workaround until the new version is build a renaming of the font
from "OpenSymbol" to "StarSymbol" should work.
