Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 30111
edit formula has bad performance
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:54:45 UTC
The attached document 'oneformula.sxw' contains 1 formula, which was generated directly in Word processor. Doubleclick the formula to edit it. Make sure that in 'View' the 'AutoUpdateDisplay' is enabled. Now delete the minus or make any other tiny change. It takes about 20 seconds until the text in the document is updated. I then opened the same document in StarOffice 6.0, don't change anything but only save it under 'oneformula_viaSO60.sxw'. When you open this file in OOo1.1.1 and edit the formula, the text in the document updates after 2 seconds. My system is relative old, a 350Mhz with 128MB RAM.
Created attachment 15844 [details] The document, generated OOo1.1.1, with bad performance
Created attachment 15845 [details] document, that went through SO60, with good performance
MRU->TL: The Auto-update lasts for about 20 sec when using the attached sample file. This could only be reproduced on Windows 98.
Reproduced with OOo1.1.2 on win98se. And: loading oneformula_viaSO60.sxw into OOo1.1.2 is very much faster than loading the original oneformula.sxw file ! Is it really the word processor, which causes this problem ? It looks more like a problem of the component, which creates the sxw-files. Workaround: who could write a script/addin, which converts OOo.sxw to SO60 and back to OOo.sxw in order to increase the efficiency of the screen-autoupdate for maths-formulae ? btw: saving the original file as oneformula.sdw (SO50) and reloading it in OOo1.1.2 does not help :-( Gisbert
Settin component to "formula editor" in order to find this issue with Math specific queries.
