Description kovzol 2004-06-07 20:38:09 UTC
I work with lots of merged cells (formatted with colored backgrounds) and many
worksheets. On inserting new cells into the spreadsheet, the merged cells may
behave strange. Sometimes empty merged cells appear on a worksheet, and if I
click onto an empty merged cell, it will become non-merged, but most of the
other "normal" merged cells on this worksheet will loose their merged properties
--- they become "sick"! In fact, they become non-merged, but OOo thinks they are
merged. If I remove merging from the "sick" cells and make them merged again, I
can continue my work --- for a whille. Then other empty merged cells may appear
and they can generate new "sick" merged cells. I saved my work on the URL one
can see above, but closing and reloading the file, the empty merged cells
disappear and one can continue his/her work. (This is also a workaround for
handling the problem.)

Merged cells with colored backgrounds in many worksheets

Hi,

I'm sorry to tell you, but I can not reproduce your problem with the given
information.

Please give a step by step description on how to reproduce. You may press
CTRL+SHIFT+R for a screen refresh if the problem occurs. We never heard from
merged cells that have been de-merged without user action.

Dear Frank, I'm amazed with this speed of answerring. Great! :-)

So, I'm trying to reproduce something:

1) Load the file levelezők2.sxc.
2) Click onto Worksheet2 (L09_03_04).
3) Click onto the merged cells in H3:I5.
4) Press CTRL-C.
5) Click onto Worksheet3 (L09_10_11).
6) Go to cell F2.
7) Press SHIFT-Insert. Now there should be an error message, but there isn't
any. There are two overlapping blocks of merged cells which should be forbidden.
8) Press SHIFT-Delete. Now the G3:G4 cells are merged, and in addition, G4 is a
single cell, too. This should be also forbidden.

Currently I'm unable to reproduce that fatal bug I found yesterday, but probably
this may start you to find something strange bug in the code.

Regards, Zoltan

Hi Niklas,

strange things are going on in this case. If possible a fix for OOo2.0 will be
preffered.
