1. Open attached test.sxi
2. Quit OpenOffice
3. Launch OpenOffice presentation
4. Select "Open Existing"
5. Select "test.sxi"
6. Press "Create"(strange wording, shouldn't that be "open"?)
7. Nothing happens.
8. Wait for preview to render
9. Press "Create"
10. Presentation opens normally

It's the known problem with the slow preview in the Impress Autopilot.
I didn't found an bug or issue about this therefore I sent this issue to you.
Please set this issue to duplicate if you already have an issue for this
enhancement.

IMHO, the problem isn't that the preview is slow. 

The problem is that the GUI is stuck in those rare cases where it takes a 
while to render a preview.

Anything that can potentially take >~0.2-0.5 seconds should not be executed on 
the user interface thread to avoid sluggish responses.

No matter how fast you make preview rendering, there will always be slides 
that take a while to render.
