Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28556
OOo 680m36 could not open any file
Last modified: 2004-04-30 14:31:19 UTC
- use OO.o 680m36 - run soffice.exe {the backing window} - try to open any document, nothing happens. - try to open files from explorer by double-clicking, DnD or any way - try to open files from the OpenDocument utility in Start Menu, Nothing Happens, no file is open, or shows up. What is this? an OS Defect {specific to Win 2k, or my installation?) Everything else is right. The backing window is working fine, could open the Tools -> Options and so. Please see.
- Ctrl + N functions as normal by opening a new document. Nothing else could be done for opening documents.
Hi aparan, thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org... I followed your steps on win2k using OOosrc680m36 and didn't get any of your described results... Maybe your installation or the downloaded *.zip file is broken? Please try if a fresh install solves your problem. Don't forget to remove all files (including OpenOffice.680 in your Application data folder!) This was not reproduceable ==>set prio to P3
Not reproducible ! Sounds like a rotten OOo installation.

- All the bugs are now cleared, sorry for that. - It worked when I deleted the whole previous OO.o Installation including the OO.o 680 folder in AppData. Now everything is OK. But there was errors during installation while copying some .dlls into the Program folder. This occured earlier too. The dlls:: -mscvp70.dll -mscvr70.dll -shlxthdl.dll -stlportvc745.dll -uwinport.dll - I had downloaded a new one from another mirror and had the current installation. But the errors while copying the above dlls existed. - Further OO.o 680 was entered into the Uninstall key of the registry twice. That means overinstallation is not supported, maybe.
