Description mareq 2004-04-20 12:53:43 UTC
I have a 102-page document with images, charts, tables, lists, TOC etc. All of
the images, charts and tables are at the end of the document. When I first
installed OOo version 1.1.1 together with the Estonian spellcheck modules by a
third-party developer - Filosoft, and tried to scroll to the pages containing
the charts (which were made by Calc) using the slider at the side of the window
then just about when Writer started to display the charts the whole application
crashed, telling me that all my work has probably been saved and can be
restored. I got over it by reinstalling OOo WITHOUT the spellcheck modules
(which apparently don't work with 1.1.1 although they work with every other
version of OOo I've tried) then the program doesn't crash but slows down the
scrolling significantly when trying to display those charts. And they appear
only after a few seconds when I've scrolled to the right place.

about the crash: as i understand the crash happened only when using the
third-party spellcheck software.. .. so that's nothing we can do about from the
OOo community. you should contact Filosoft concerning this issue.

about the slow scrolling: which computer system are you using? Do you have
enough RAM,..? We know that OOo is not the fastest Office Suite and the
programmers are working hard to improve performance, however as you say you are
working with a 100 pages document it is not uncommon behaviour that incorporated
elements, which use also other components of OOo (Charts..), will slow down
performance of OOo.

All in all, i think this issue can be closed as WorksForMe.

The scrolling problem seems to be a duplicate to issue 27259 and issue 27876.
There are also many OLe objects inside the document and the the scrolling
process is slowed down heavily by strong hard disk activity.
