Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 27984
Error message wrong for write-protected files
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:30:00 UTC
Saving a file with the "Save as" dialog and setting the path to a directory where the user does not have write permissions gives an error with the text: "Unable to save /home/niceuser/thisdir/foo.sxw. File or path does not exist." The error message should indicate the actual problem, which in this case was that niceuser did not have write permission on the directory thisdir.
Change to framework as this is same with others. We need to change File or path does not exist with Write protected disk/Folders. or other more informative error
TM->HRO: Reproducible. Please have a look and decide if there should be made some changes in the error-message.
Reassigned.
Error handling seems to be damaged here.
.
Reproduced on Ooo1.0(Linux 2.4.26). Tried removing other combinations of permissions and they all returned valid error messages. Only the missing write(r-x) returned an incorrect error message.
Reproduced on OO 2.0 Beta 2, but got 2 error dialogs (in sequence). Error Dialog #1 Error saving the doc testdoc: /filepath-to-nonwriteable-directory/testdoc.ods does not exist. Error Dialog #2 Error saving the document testdoc: General Error. General input/output error.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
