Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 27970
Copy-Paste from cell to Input line adds trailing (delimiter?) character
Last modified: 2014-04-23 06:28:04 UTC
Please open the attached spreadsheet: - (A1 is selected after opening the spreadsheet) press CTRL+C - select A2 - click into the edit-field at the top to be able to insert content to to B1 - press CTRL+V: The first strange thing here is the "space" that has been inserted after the "1", that seems not to be a real space - press backspace in order to delete this "space": Have a look at the cell: It contains "1,00E-00" instead of "1,00E-001" like the edit-field contains! - confirm: That incorrect value is applied to the cell! This is fatal!

I mean B1 instead of A2 in the second step!
The char at the end that is shown as "space", seems so be a strange "linebreak". If I copy it into an editor, it is interpreted as line-break by the editor. But If I copy a number terminated with a line-break from the editor and paste it into Calc as described, the problem does not happen.
set prio P1 -> P3
I have set the prio to "1", because there might be some people who use Calc for serious Calculations. In some cases having another value entered than the one that is displayed could be fatal!
Hi Malte, deleting the last character in the edit line changes the value in the cell by deleting the last number of the scientific format, making 0.1 to 1. The problem is, the last character in the eidt line isn't the same as in the cell. Frank
set the target
Please note that this NOT only happens with scientific numbers.

Because of a shortage of resources we have to retarget this issue to OOo later.
Still Reproducible with "AOO 4.1.0 RC3 – English UI / German locale [AOO410m17(Build:9763) - Rev. 1586584 2014-04-11 08:56:50]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4. User Profile used for all predecessor versions Effect happens with any contents if a complete cell will be pasted into input line. Status and Assignee: changed due to facts @all: It's really daunting that such meaningless Summaries can survive 10 years in a bug touched by experts.
