Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26985
Duplicated characters in Japanese input
Last modified: 2004-06-09 09:49:54 UTC
(Bug confirmed in OOo 1.1 Japanese and OOo 1.1.1RC3) When entering Japanese text (in at least Writer and Calc, I haven't tried others), every string entered and confirmed (with the Enter key) is duplicated in the document; in addition, if the first character is not a complete kana, it is duplicated as well. For example, entering the kana "TE SU TO" results in the following display: (kana are in UPPER CASE, unconfirmed kana input is in [brackets]) Key Display ----- ------- t t e t[TE] s t[TEs] u t[TESU] t t[TESUt] o t[TESUTO] Enter tTESUTOTESUTO Japanese input in other applications (e.g. Mozilla) works fine. Environment is as follows: - OS: Linux 2.4.21 (no distribution) - libc: glibc 2.3.2 - X11: XFree86 4.3.0 - Japanese input: Wnn7/xwnmo
Please try using the latest OpenOffice 1.1.1 or ask somebody else in Japanese mailing list to confirm this problems, otherwise we cannot confirm that this issue are real. sorry I did not use japanese OOo.
Confirmed to exist in 1.1.1.
SBA: set to confirmed and reassigned to Ulf.
us@submitter: which IME do you use and does the problem still persits in OOo 1.1.2 RC2?
xwnmo (as distributed with Wnn7), and yes, the problem still exists in OOo 1.1.2rc2.
Could you provide links for downloading the appropriate packages. BTW. what distro are you using. So far I was only aware of ATOK, kinput2 and friends.
Wnn7 is a commercial product (information in Japanese at http://www.omronsoft.co.jp/SP/pcunix/wnn7/), and as far as I know xwnmo is not freely available. If desired, I can contact the publisher and ask for permission to make a copy available to you for testing.
Yes, that would be great!
Well, it turns out that there's been an update for Wnn7's xwnmo that resolves the problem--this issue doesn't occur with version 1.03 of xwnmo. Go ahead and close this issue--I'll work on extricating my foot from my throat...
No problem. Thanks for supporting OOo anyway. Happily closing issue.
