Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26200
Changes made to the fill character of a tab fails to be saved
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
When I make changes (ie. add) to the fill character of a tab, the change is not saved and the tab fails to have any fill characters present. -type some text -hit tab -type more text -hit 'ctrl' + 'R' to flush right the new text -highlight the tab between the two sets of text, using the mouse -right click over the highlighted text to display the context menu -click on "edit paragraph style" -click on the "Tabs" tab -under 'Fill Character' select any of the pre-set characters -click "OK" -the tab fails to be filled with the selected chracter -go back and check the 'Fill Character' selction -"None" will be selected, the previous selection not saved -file I am trying to add 'Fill Characters' to http://chemistry.mtu.edu/~jdbailey/downloads/no_fill_characters.sxw comments: -this occurs when getting to the 'fill chracter' option through various methods -this occurs on new or previously saved documents -if I open a previously saved document with a fill character already set (such as http://chemistry.mtu.edu/~jdbailey/downloads/elipses.sxw, created on a different computer several months ago), I am unable to change it. It acts as above, failing to apply my changes.
reassigend to jw i can confirm this under certain circumstances. if you set a startpositon in the tabfield p.e. 5" your tab will be filled with the fillingcharacter, and after this you can press the tab-key and you will get the character every time, you press the tab-key, but just from the startposition you choose -> this semes to be a bug. i will make further investigations on this.
I was able to work around the bug. Your work is much appreciated.
ok the bahaviour i described is not a bug, this is a feature, you have to set tab stop positions in the menu for the paragraph styles. this tab stop will be filled with the character you choose until the tab position you set will be reached. set to wfm
wfm -> closed
