Description Unknown 2001-12-21 19:24:45 UTC
Often when I use the mouse to highlight text in the spreadsheet the program locks up

the following error is given:

Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x3aa14)

It autosaves my work but is very annoying to have to restart openoffice, which
takes far to long to open anyhow.

I am running Xfree86 4.1.0-11 and nvidia opengl drivers version 1541 on debian
linux (sid) kernel 2.4.15pre3 on a 700Mhz Athlon/Asus K7V

I have since upgraded to kernel version 2.4.17 and nvidia drivers 2314
and the system still hangs when trying to highlight
a large range of cells in a spreadsheet, with..... Xlib: unexpected
async error.....

Is my system the only one that has had this type of issue?

Maybe Vmware is the issue and just run MS Office.

Spreadsheet+crash looks like component=spreadsheet and subcomponent=code. Changed flags.
Reassigned to Oliver.

hello m buss,
could you please check if it happens as well when selecting text in a
text object in the draw application ? Unfortunately I'm not able to
reproduce it here on our systems but it might be related with
Xselection and Xclipboard issues. Maybe you're able to connect the
application to gdb before and provide a call stack of the application
when the hangup occurs:

start OOo.org soffice process
check for the processID using the command "ps auxw|grep soffice.bin"
and pick the first processID (the others are just threads which show
as regular processes on Linux boxes)

gdb - processID
after loading of libs enter "cont"
when the hangup occurs enter "ctrl+c"
and then enter "where" to get the call stack

Kind regards, Joost Andrae (ja@openoffice.org)

I have since moved ot staroffice 6.0 beta and have none of these
issues and cannot
duplicate them for you anymore. My reading on the async error
informed me its
when a single thread app makes multi thread calls from X. I dont know
much about
programming so sorry.
