Description jkonecn 2004-03-02 13:42:29 UTC
I have an Excel 2000 spreadsheet that we opened with ooo, made some changes then
saved as type excel. When opened with excel (after the ooo changes), many
formulas are missing. I think there are many problems but one thing that I
notice right aways is that there is a value of 257 in E8, the formula in E9 is
supposed to be =E8. However it just says #REF! now. Likewise E10 should be
=E9, E11 should be =E10 and so on... They all just say #REF! though.

I have noticed that if I save as type ooo after my changes, then re-save as type
excel, the formulas do not disappear.

Yes, you have found the workaround to this problem. This excel document contains
shared formulas. This formula can be shared amonsgt different cells. When saving
to xml (Calc) format, the shared formulas are lost and instead a separate
formula for each formula cell is written out. Thus when you re-save the xml to
xls (excel) the shared formulas are gone. But the problem may return if the
document is resaved in Excel. It appears that we have a problem writing out some
shared formulas. This looks like a duplicate of issue 16277. But I will confirm
that later.

This issue is a duplicate of issue 16277. This problem appears when the top
left most cell in the shared formula range is not a formula e.g. in column E the
shared formula range for column E9 is E8:E27; i.e. E9=E8, E10=E9, E11=E10 etc.
but E8 is a value. I seem to have lost the permission to close this as a duplicate?
