Description goc 2004-02-26 17:05:26 UTC
I wanted to add some fonts to OOo via spadmin since I can't print a presentation
I've made which contains symbols from ZapfDingBats. I have .pfb files under
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/type1/urw/zapfding (Debian unstable) and generated
appropriate .afm files as per the FAQ using pf2afm. Then I tried to add this
directory to the font path using spadmin, but it failed to show any fonts in
that directory, and said "added 0 fonts".

In the PDF, the places where the symbols should occur, are just blank.

Reassigned to Christian.

JA->GOC: To add type1 fonts you need a fonts.dir file within the font's
directory which includes an XLFD (X logical font descriptor) like the one above:

zapfding.pfa -urw-urw zapfdingbats-medium-i-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1

the first line of the fonts.dir file contains a counter which has to be updated
if you add a font to this list.

Are you sure this font doesn't contain a 'do not embed' tag which prevents those
fonts to be embedded into a PDF ?

JA: I checked adding Type1 fonts within the srx645 version and I had no problems
doing this.
