Open new Writer document, type "Author (2004)", highlight all and select
> Format > Character > Font Effects > Effects > Small Capitals.

Note that in Preview the numbers are changed to a small size, which they
shouldn't. In the text area, however, the numbers are displayed in correct size.

Hi,

I'm using openoffice.org-writer version 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1.

I still see this problem. I thought I'd push it up as this issue has been there 
for a while (6 years).

I'd like to add that previewing the word "R&D" in small uppercase shows a small 
"&" character. Although, once the effect applied, the "&" looks normal. I'm not 
sure if this is the correct behavior, but it doesn't only apply to numbers. (I 
personally prefer having the "&" smaller in the word "R&D").
