Open a new spreadsheet and rename 'Sheet1' to 'Test1'.  Click in cell A5.  Open
the Define Names dialog.  Enter the name 'TestRange' and select 'Add'.  Insert
'Matrix' in the name box.  Insert the following specification in the 'Assigned
to' box:

$Test1.$A$1;$Test1.$B$2:$D$2;$Test1.$B$3:$D$3;$Test1.$A$4

then click on 'Add', then 'OK'.  Click on the drop-down box in the formula bar.
 Only 'TestRange' is shown; 'Matrix' is absent.  Re-open the Define Names dialog
and click on 'Matrix'.  The specified cells in 'Matrix' will be highlighted in
sheet Test1.  Exit the Define Names dialog by clicking on 'Cancel'.  Although
not shown in the drop-down box, the named range 'Matrix' will work in formulas.
 Enter the number 15 in cells A1, B2:D3 and A4.  Click in cell C6 and enter the
formula _=SUM(Matrix)_.  The result (120) will be shown in cell C6.

Re-select range B4:D5 (a contiguous selection).  Open the Define Names dialog. 
Enter the name 'Block' and select 'Add' and 'OK'.  The formula bar drop-down box
shows both 'TestRange' and 'Block'; selecting 'TestRange' or 'Block' activates
those selections correctly.  This shows that single or contiguous cells' named
ranges are shown in the formula bar's drop-down box, that selecting them there
activates their respective selections, and that this does not work for
non-contiguous cells' named ranges.  Making named ranges for non-contiguous
cells appear in the formula bar's drop-down box, as happens for single and
contiguous cells, would be a good enhancement for consistency and productivity.
 This is the default behaviour for Excel, for example.

Presently, the only way of selecting a non-contiguous named range is to open the
Define Names dialog, click on the range's name, see the highlighted cells,
memorize them, then exit and select them manually.  This is cumbersome and
impractical for even one selection event, let alone having to do it multiple times.
